What are club dues and why do I have to pay them?
Club dues are fees charged by the local club to cover expenses
not covered by VAST; such as additional grooming costs,
specialty signs, sign posts, and equipment for trail maintenance
and construction. Local clubs are also responsible for obtaining
all landowner permissions for use of their land for snowmobiling
and state law requires that you belong to a local club
as well as have a VAST TMA pass.
If I am registered in my own home state or province, do
I need to register in VT too?
No, as long as your machine(s) is registered, you do not
need to re-register it in the state of Vermont. You must be
able to provide proof of registration when purchasing your TMA.
If purchasing your TMA through the mail please send a photo
copy of your registration with your application.
PLEASE NOTE: A State Registration is different than having a TMA Trail Pass, your snowmobile must be registered in a State, you must have a VAST TMA Trail Pass, and your snowmobile must be insured before you can ride in Vermont.
When I purchase my TMA what am I paying for?
For every Resident and Non-Resident TMA purchased a percentage goes directly to the VAST trails fund. Below is a breakdown of that fund:
Grooming - 63%
Construction Grants - 19%
Equipment Grants - 7%
Trail Insurance - 4%
Emergency Projects - 3%
Debrushing - 3%
Signing - 1%
As for the rest of your TMA money - $9.90 goes to the VAST
General Fund for Administrative costs and $0.10 goes towards
the Scholarship Fund.
